Our 6th collaboration saw the UK Friends of the Mustique Charitable Trust (UKFMCT) coming on board to fund the Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra (SHESO) initiative in setting up training programmes for children and teenagers in Sion Hill Village.

Programmes ran from August 2021 to September 2021 and were facilitated by SHESO at Sion Hill Pan Yard located above the capital Kingstown of St. Vincent.

Grant funding from the UK Friends of the Mustique Charitable Trust enabled the following outcomes from this programme:

  • Thirty-five (35) Steel Pan Sticks provided for the Graduates on the Programmes
  • Three (3) tutors providing training sessions in music theory, reading and writing music, and basic history of the Steel Pan.
  • An educational tour to The Montreal Gardens to get a view outside of the Pan Yard, build team spirit and appreciate the natural sites in SVG.
  • Participants had the opportunity to compete in the National Panorama Competition

Over 35 children and teenagers participated in the Steel Pan Programme at a total cost of US$6,140
