The Mustique Charitable Trust was registered on 22nd May 2008 in St. Vincent and the Grenadines with the objectives to raise funds through fund raising events and donations solicited from homeowners and visitors of Mustique. These funds are to be utilised in accordance with the mission statement to improve the opportunities for children, young people and vulnerable adults while supporting the development of sustainable local communities throughout St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Mustique Charitable Trusts implement their Grant Programme with our focus areas being Children & Young People, Tackling Poverty, Building Local Communities, Health and Education. These areas are all in line with the United Nation (UN) Sustainable Development Goals with the first four goals being No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health & Well-Being and Quality Education.

In addition, the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) advises that, for young people in rural communities, education should be relevant and realistic. It recommends programmes such as Life Skills Education and Junior Farmer Training Program, which enables the trainees to be self-sustainable and self-employable. As such, we hope to draw guidance from organisations such as the UN and the FAO to direct our focus on sustainability and employability as outcomes of our Grant Programmes as we help our communities, especially the rural communities, of St. Vincent & the Grenadines.

Our Supporters

Thank you to all of our supporters.

Without you we would be unable to give hope to many needy children and impoverished communities in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

The Trustees would like to thank the many well-wishers, homeowners, visitors and guests to the island of Mustique who have contributed most generously to our fundraising activities. Your support makes our mission a reality by creating opportunities for the disadvantaged children and young adults in communities in St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

Our fund raising activities range from donations, to a poolathon in Mustique, fundraising dinners and drinks parties with auctions and sponsored swims around the island. A special thank you to Christie’s in London for helping us make our annual fund raising drinks parties and auctions so successful.

Our Projects

Donations are spent effectively to deliver help directly where it is most needed. Our ambition is to sustain a level of fundraising that will enable the Trusts to offer on-going support to the following grant areas:

Children and Young People

  • HIV / AIDS
  • Victims of physical abuse and incest
  • Disabled and disadvantaged

Tackling Poverty & Building Local Communities

  • Capital endowments
  • Relief of childhood poverty
  • Disaster relief

Education

  • Pre-school, primary and secondary school support
  • Adult vocational education – scholarships
  • Non-structured learning (after school clubs etc)

Health & Wellness

  • Screening Programmes
  • Haemodialysis Treatment
  • World Pediatric Project (WPP)

Our disaster relief programmes provided new homes, helped with house repairs, agricultural assistance to farmers, water and food distribution, hospital equipment and clothing for those in need. Over 8,000 persons have used the MCT free diabetes and hypertension testing service. The Trust has helped increase reading skills as well as provide counselling and therapy sessions for young people facing a variety of challenges.

Among the many projects funded, the Trusts ensure that over 400 needy schoolchildren receive a nutritious hot lunch daily through our school meal programmes. For more details on our projects, see our Charities & Projects Supported.

The work of the Trusts is vital and has already made a real impact in a country that really needs our on-going committed involvement. We cannot stress enough how important this work is and very much hope you will give generously.
