On Friday 9th April 2021, the first of several eruptions of La Soufriere Volcano occurred with the largest eruption spewing ash up to 32,000 feet high into the sky. It was reported that close to 20,000 persons were displaced or affected by these eruptions. The ash fall that followed severely impacted the northern part of St. Vincent comprising mainly of the most rural areas where small farmers depend heavily on agriculture and farming as their livelihood.

In immediate response, the Mustique Volcano Emergency Relief Fund (VERF) was initiated through the donations from Homeowners, Guests and Friends of Mustique. These funds were earmarked to assist the impacted Vincentian people from the Red and Orange Zones.

Our assistance took a two-phase approach. The completed Phase One addressed immediate relief supplies needs such as groceries, water and educational supplies and the ongoing Phase Two focuses on longer-term assistance such as tools, equipment and construction.
