Mustique Charitable Trust awards Three (3) Bursaries at the University of West Indies Open Campus for 2020-2021 Academic Year

A decade later after its inception in 2010, the Mustique Charitable Trust (MCT) continues its Bursary Award Program at the University of West Indies Open Campus (UWIOC) with the following three (3) bursaries awarded for the 2020-2021 Academic Year:

• Corina Arrindell Bachelor of Science: Psychology with minor in Human Resources

This brings it to 35 Bursaries awarded since the inception of the MCT Bursary Award Programme in 2010 with 19 Graduated Awardees thus far receiving 8 First Class Degrees, 4 Upper Second Degree, 6 Lower Second Degrees and 1 Certificate.

This year, the recipients includes a young single mother pursuing Psychology whose concern is the abuse of children and teens, a young teacher from a rural school pursuing Social Work to help troubled teens and the disadvantaged and a young entrepreneur pursuing Management Studies to aid in his enterprising dreams.

A Handover Ceremony took place on Friday 2nd October 2020, where the laptops, which form part of the bursary, were presented to the Bursary Recipients. During brief remarks, Deborah Dalrymple (UWIOC Head of Site) thanked the Mustique Charitable Trust for their support over the last decade and highlighted that the MCT Bursaries are one of the most substantial bursaries at the UWI Open Campus. While Dularie Malcolm (MCT Administration Director) thanked UWIOC for their dedication and input towards the selection process and the Bursary Programme. She commended the Awardees and confirmed that they were each well deserving of the Bursary.

Akeil Matthews closed off with a “Thank You Speech” on behalf of all the recipients where he conveyed deep gratitude to The Mustique Charitable Trust for the opportunity afforded to them and promised to give their best efforts in honour of their awards.
