Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) Programme

The Mustique Charitable Trusts (MCT’s) provides support for Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) administered by a unit of highly trained law enforcement officers within the Royal St. Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force.

The programme is a collaborative effort by the Police, the Ministry of Education, parents and local communities as a response to drug abuse, violence and gang involvement by children and teenagers.

Through their Grant Programme the Mustique Charitable Trusts have provided a grant of EC $32,629.00 for the operational cost and extension of the DARE programme to the Grenadines.

The programme has been running in St. Vincent and the Grenadines since 1997. It has been adapted from a programme developed by the Los Angeles Police Department. The DARE Programme not only deals with issues related to drugs it also teaches children to develop good decision making skills and to understand that all actions have consequences even at an early age.
