Sion Hill Euphonium Steel Orchestra

Due to financial constraints many children do not have the opportunity to take advantage of after school or vacation activities. The Trusts have provided the funds for over two hundred children and young people to attend activities creating positive choices as direct alternatives to crime, violence and gang membership.

Nearly fifty youngsters, aged six to sixteen, attended a Trust funded summer programme in 2014 to develop musical ability in playing steel pans. The organisers aimed to create a focus on teamwork, practice and technique that, again, support positive choices. The graduation performance on August 31 demonstrated that after six weeks, the participants were well on the way to becoming accomplished steel pan players. The youngest player aged six years old gave a rousing performance and was praised for his accomplished playing.
