Refurbished Classrooms at Richmond Vale Academy
Poor countries like St. Vincent & the Grenadines are most prone to disasters resulting from Global Warming and Climate Change and as such, RVA plays a vital role in training and preparing persons in this regard. For this reason, the Mustique Charitable Trust came on board to provide funding towards the refurbishment of the classroom facilities at RVA.
The completed classrooms are now inclusive of newly installed toilets, tiled floors, windows, furniture, air conditioners, presentation equipment and a beautifully painted wall mural.
Since the re-opening of the classrooms, Vincentian students, mainly single unemployed women, have participated in training on home backyard gardens, permaculture and making handbags and other items from recycled materials.
These upgraded classroom facilities will not only be utilised to teach students about poverty reduction, environmental conservation and climate change awareness but most importantly about self-sustainability, which is much needed here in St. Vincent & the Grenadines where employment opportunities are limited.
