Grassroots Swimming Programming

Due to financial constraints many children do not have the opportunity to take advantage of after school or vacation activities.  The Trusts have provided the funds for over two hundred children and young people to attend activities creating positive choices as direct alternatives to crime, violence and gang membership.

The St Vincent and the Grenadines Amateur Swimming Association received a grant to run a grassroots swimming programme for underprivileged children who would never otherwise have the opportunity to learn to swim. More than one hundred youngsters from five communities have participated so far.  Volunteer coaches have taught swimming technique and team work for competitive swimming.  This programme has undoubtedly saved the lives of children living in coastal communities where many children have not had the opportunity to learn to swim.
